We are Mash.
Here for a good time, not a long-time.
An Anglo-Scot-Dane with an island upbringing! The world of Mash was clearly the only way to go for such a cocktail! Raised on the Isle of Bute, off the West of Scotland - with 8,000 people and ONE roundabout... - the most Bute-iful place in the world (I should work in marketing...oh hang on). Moving to London was quite a transition as you'd imagine but the best move I could have made - London just buzzes and pulls you here, there and everywhere but you might as well get stuck in...otherwise what's the point? One day, the time will come to move and spread out a bit but not yet...too much Mashing to be done yet!
Sport plays a huge, significant and successful (well, not so much of the successful) part in my life - football (watching and playing), running, squash and a recent attempt at McZumba (look it up) all ensure I can switch off from the workplace goings on. You'll be shocked to hear this from a Scotsman but I bloody love pubs (and yes I do get a round in!)...the chat, everyone at ease and a perfect opportunity to laugh and share - what more could you want. Well - maybe a deep-fried Mars Bar...;)
Questionnaire
Away form work I am passionate about...
Sport, Socialising - "When I read about the dangers of drinking, I gave up reading" (Oscar Wilde) and learning Spanish and Salsa (slowly).
My favorite meal of the day is...
Dinner in the evening...no question....you just don't get the sheer volume, variety and satisfaction from any of the others.
If I could have any job or career in the world...
My brother's band Ardentjohn's Manager - would love to tour and manage the Ultimate Family Project.
I confess to being bad at...
Excel.
I support Kiva, because...
It reminds me and everyone that there is wonderful big world out there with so many amazing people and that profit for Mash suddenly feels even more worthwhile when we can lend a hand to those needing a lift in life.
I work at Mash because...
The people around me are passionate, creative and focussed but - as busy as it gets - none of us ever lose grip of the mantra...."we're here for a good time, not a long-time". Here's to that!
My favourite part of my job is...
Put simply, I love people. Not in an I-want-to-hug-everyone way, more in a what-gets them buzzing sense. As the Talent Director here at Mash and for as long as I can remember, my interest has long been the people behind the work rather than the work itself. A shameless champion of positive and passionate people, my job is to find them, look after them and to help them become even better. Not a bad way to earn a living...
I confess to loving...
Like a Prayer by Madonna...when this comes on in the nightclub...get out the way...
